As a result of its high density of 1.39 - 1.42 g/cm³, Polyoxymethylene (POM) has an enormous hardness, resistance and surface quality. In addition to its good sliding and wear properties, and a high thermostability resistance, POM is particularly characterised by its extremely high dimensional accuracy, i.e. dimension stability. Therefore, POM is successfully used as a construction material for components with tight tolerances, such as precision parts in precision engineering, and for complex turning and milling parts like gears and pump bodies.
Moreover, POM is, thanks to its low humidity absorption, also suitable for use in chemical apparatus construction or in the automotive industry. All of these properties and the simple processing of this very easily machinable plastic make POM to an ideal material.
